The Bristol Hotel - San Diego

Big shoutout to Joseph who works the front desk! Thanks to him, we had an amazing experience at the Bristol. He was so nice, funny, and thoughtful as we celebrated our anniversary. He did everything in his power to make it special! Props to Joseph he is the best!

My best friend and I stayed here while we were in town and it was amazing! Robert was one of the main reasons this stay was so great! He was so nice to us when we first arrived after we had a long day at the airport. He greeted us everytime we walked in and out of the lobby, made sure we knew where we were going as we were unfamilar with the city, and overall was super friendly and informative. The location aspect was not rated perfect stars because it is in the middle of the city and with that one can expect to walk by people on the streets.

Average hotel. Even though it was clearly empty, I was assigned a room facing the back of the building and the air con machinery, so I got no views and no sunlight. The room had a strong synthetic smell (glue, rubber or paint) that didn’t go away even when the windows were left open. I would always have a headache when I was inside because of that smell, although I’m a person who rarely has headaches. The sheets have low cotton density and are somewhat worn out. The mattress was too soft for me. The room is spacious and there’s a lot of storage place. Although there are two couches and a side table by the window, there’s no proper chair or desk, so working in the room could be a challenge. On the other hand, the location was very convenient for a visitor without a car, as there are a lot of bus stops nearby. I was also granted an early check in, which was not a surprise considering the hotel was empty (I only saw other 2 or 3 guests during my entire 3 day stay). The amenity products smelled really good. The bed was huge, so was the TV. The bathrobes depicted on the Bristol page on Booking.com were not present in my room!

The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, housekeeping is not provided daily by default, and you need to request cleaning in advance. Aside from this policy, the overall experience was positive.

Good location to explore San Diego. Just a couple of blocks from gaslamp quarter, so close to the Great bars and restaurants . Great free coffee machine in reception up to noon each day. Why not all day???? That would be a winner!

Nice hotel with spacious rooms and an excellent gym. Very well located, lots of amenities nearby and limited valet. Service was generally good apart from a frosty welcome from the first receptionist we encountered. The rooms are big but poor view on once side of the hotel. Valet only holds c. 20 cars and spaces are not solely reserved for hotel guests. Valet is $42 per day which is pretty pricey.

Very nice staff, really helped us with our odd travel hours and accommodated us extremely well! Little bit of non invasive construction going on, didn't hear or bother us. We walked to cruise port with our luggage, was about a 15-20 minute walk, could have taken an Uber, we didn't mind waking. Took Uber to and from airport, about 5-8 minutes without traffic.

Besides the construction at the front desk, all the employees are fantastic!! Beautiful customer service. Russell and Eric are great! They helped my daughters and I settle into our very clean room, also made sure my truck was parked in a safe spot for me. Room is very clean and super cute. Walking distance also great to downtown.
